Happy Father's Day

Some of you have already known that we have a little halfling at home. Because today is the Father's Day, we are celebrating mine the second time in my entire life :)

Here are the presents I received from my family with a little picture story:

2015

Now 2015 is here. I don't know where I am though :)

I am working on two new paintings. If you are waiting for very complex and artistic expressions from me, I am afraid, you will be disappointed. My works are becoming simpler and simpler every day and situated around, perhaps archetypical, objects such as tree, sky, fire, moon, sun, stars, and sometimes faces. And how can I forget: Many shades of any primary colors!

So, the upcoming one focuses on fire. I really don't know yet what the next one is going to be about. I just finished its background. The only thing I know for sure is both have blueish backgrounds :)

Distortion (ya da çarpıklık)

These are my latest pencil drawings. I spent only an hour, don't look for any perfection or quality but distortion.

This is Distortion. Apparently, I started doing this last year. When I found my notebook in the office, I made a few changes for 10 minutes. Here it is.

No this is not me. It is The Face.

The book.

Moving...yet again

Now that we have almost completed our 1-year stay in West Lafayette, IN, where I received my PhD in 2009 and moved to Istanbul in 2010, we are moving back to Istanbul. It has been incredibly beautiful stay this time. How can I deny? We were 2 and are now 3. I have accomplished almost all of my (research) plans.

In the last couple of days, though, I wanted to slow down which resulted in some procrastinations. Unfortunately, I couldn't slow down since there are several official things to do -- which I did. Now I have to get rid of all the furniture we have but not the memories.

There is of course some blues. Every time I want to settle down, it doesn't work. Perhaps, I am following the path of my old-old-old ancestors, nomads. But the efforts of settling down and looking for new 'green fields' come with (un)predictable obstacles, surprises, and new experiences, which I think I love and am able to convert some of them into somewhat productive assets for me and my surroundings.

And, all of this has happened before and will happen again.

12 Monkeys: Official Trailer | Syfy

I loved the movie, which is one of those I watched watched watched and enjoyed every time. The show is not very much promising but I look forward to seeing it.

Colors

I have a very young art critic at home. He is 3 and half months old :) He loves colors! So, this is for him! I hope he likes it.

The Owl C

I started working on this painting in January 2014. Then, for some reasons some of you may know, I didn't have time to complete it. At midnight, I paid almost all of my attention to this for two hours and finished it by 2:30am. Here it is!

ps. I deliberately made some perspective 'errors'! :)

Here it comes

Here it comes!
This painting follows the footsteps of the previous two: Light'14 and Walk the walk. Similar to them, it was completed at night under very dim light.
Enjoy!

Sherlock (BBC)

I think, Sherlock is one of the greatest TV shows. The characters are lovely as has been since the introduction of the books. But this series is in fact a series of extremely sophisticated films.

I love the storytelling, all the camera angles, and surprise elements.

Many thanks for this show!

"Did you miss me?" (from Sherlock s03e03)

Walk the walk

Because many friends like Light'14, I have this one. Perhaps, work in progress. It is a little bit yellowish than the one below.

Light'14

I started and completed this painting last night after 11pm. It is a little bit brighter (more yellowish and greenish) than it appears in the photo below. Enjoy!

2014

The first painting of the year 2014. Yay!

I guess I challenged myself :) Last night after 11pm I wanted to paint under very dim light. I used two brushes and four or five colors. I painted it at a 90 degree angle.

Here is the result:

Fall has arrived

To a "resident-alien" from far far away like me, Midwest provides wonderful scenes in fall. Here are some:

(Beril took this one. Great picture!)
